About the Event

Too often, conversations about addiction begin with substance use itself. This workshop asks a different question: What experiences shape vulnerability long before addiction begins? It also invites us to look beyond addiction to recognise the strengths, resilience, and humanity of individuals whose lives are often reduced to a diagnosis.
Come be part of an interactive space for dialogue and creative expression with persons with lived experience (PwLE), caregivers, NIMHANS representatives, and the public to explore addiction beyond stigma and substance use, and the people who are so much more than it.
We welcome people with lived experience of addiction, their caregivers, students, educators, healthcare professionals, researchers, members of civil society organisations, policymakers, and anyone interested in mental health and creating more compassionate conversations around addiction.
Date: 4th July 2026
